DIY Moisturising and Healing Scrub
Seeing as Summer is around the corner, although you really wouldn't think so in London right now, I thought it would be fitting to create my own body scrub. I used this scrub this morning and it was the most moisturising and invigorating body scrub I have ever used. All the ingredients are really easy to get hold of and are very inexpensive.
Feel free to swap out the scents or the texture to something that you like more but please do your research and make sure whatever you are using is suitable to apply onto skin.
First of all let me tell you a little bit about the ingredients I chose:
Walnut Oil - Rich in Omega 3 essential fatty acids which make it an excellent skin care oil. It also contains minerals such as calcium, iron, magnesium, selenium, manganese, copper, and melatonin a hormone that aids in regulation of the body’s internal clock. Walnut Oil is often used as a key ingredient in anti-ageing creams to regenerate and moisturise mature, dry and damaged skin.
Sea Salt - Increased circulation, antiseptic effects, soft skin and reduction in fluid retention are just some of the benefits of sea salt for the skin. Sea salt is an excellent exfoliating treatment and provides psychological benefits and improves quality of sleep. Sea salt is a natural detoxifier, as the salt absorbs the toxins from the skin.
Rosemary - Rosemary has antimicrobial and antiseptic qualities that helps eliminate eczema, dermatitis and oily skin. The essential oil helps in toning your skin and removing dryness. It can also give your skin a healthy, even glow when regularly applied. Rosemary also stimulates mental activity and is a good remedy for depression, mental fatigue and forgetfulness. Inhaling rosemary oil seems lift your spirits immediately.
Organic Honey - Honey is naturally antibacterial, so it's great for acne treatment and prevention, its is also full of antioxidants, it is great for slowing down ageing. Honey is It is extremely moisturising and soothing, so it helps create a glow to you skin.
Oats - Oats are effective in fighting dull, flaky skin as they contain polisaccharides. Oats are effective in addressing dry skin symptoms like itchiness, rashes, scales and peeling. Oats improve collagen deposition and activation of immune cells within the skin. They also contain natural cleansers called saponins that can remove dirt and oil from the pores without causing irritation, thus leaving behind soft and silky skin as well as reducing pore size.

Now you know all about the amazing benefits of the active ingredients in this scrub I'll show you how to make it...
Method:
Add five table spoons of oats four table spoons of course sea salt, and stir together. Then add enough oil to form a paste.
Using scissors trim the rosemary into small pieces, use as much as you like. I love the smell so I used three sprigs. I also added two drops of a rosemary and eucalyptus oil to add a calming effect, eucalyptus also aids deep breathing.
Mix together and use a palm sized amount once a week in the shower. You should have just over two worth of product but its so easy to make more! Your skin will feel smooth, moisturised and will have a lovely glow.
