DIY Cloud Mobile
Today I have a cute DIY for you, this squishy fabric cloud mobile. In an afternoon you can make up this mobile using some scraps of fabric and felt. I gave the one I made to my friend's baby as a little gift, these make perfect baby shower or welcome to the family presents for little ones. Don't worry if you don't have a sewing machine as you can easily sew this project by hand. This sweet baby mobile can be whipped up pretty quickly and you can use whatever fabrics you have to hand. I used some linen that has been printed with my own patterns and I love it turned out.
First, gather your supplies. You will need:
Using paper templates cut out six stars and six rain drops from the felt, then cut out the two cloud shapes from your patterned fabric and two more out of the plain for the backing. When cutting out the cloud shapes, leave a 1.5 cm seam allowance.
Right sides together, place one patterned cloud and one plain cloud on top of each other and pin. Using a sewing machine (or by hand) carefully sew around the curves of the cloud, making sure to leave a gap at the bottom flat edge so you can turn the cloud out. Cut small slits all the way around the curves so they turn out neatly. Do the same for the second cloud.
Once you have turned both your cloud shapes right side out, use a pencil to really push out the curves to get them nice and neat. Now its time to stuff! Using wadding gradually stuff the clouds making sure they are nice and plump. Once done sew up the gap at the bottom on the machine or by hand.
Now your clouds are complete you can begin attaching the stars and rain. Use a line of PVA down the middle of one raindrop shape and lay the thread down into the glue, then place another rain drop on top to seal the thread in. The thread should be around 20cm long so you can adjust the length later. Continue sandwiching the thread between all the felt shapes using PVA.
Figure out the position you would like your cloud and felt shapes to be in. Using a needle and thread attach the rain drops along the flat edge of one cloud. In the gaps you can attach the stars. Using the needle and thread attach the second cloud to the top of the first.
Create a loop of thread at the top of the cloud so you can hang it up anywhere in your home!

- Three pieces of coloured felt, approx. 15cm x 15cm
