Dressing Simply For Spring
This past weekend I decided to travel home for a few days to see my mum and brother. We had a really lovely four days and we managed to visit some of my favourite places in the North East, I took so many photos I'll have at least three blog posts coming up about my trip. One sunny morning my brother very kindly offered to take a few photos of me as I had been sent a lovely springtime outfit from Laura Ashley. We headed out the door to scout out a good location to take a few outfit photos.
After going along to the Laura Ashley Spring / Summer 2017 press show I was blown away by how many pieces I wanted to buy once they hit the stores. I spotted lots of linen, artists smocks and pinafore dresses which all had that classic and relaxed style that I love so much. The lovely team let me pick out a few items so I opted for the Linen Side Button Culottes, Tuck Stitch Cropped Cardigan and the Navy Check Scarf. Although it was too hot to wear the scarf outside I snapped a photo of it below so you can see what it looks like.
Like I said the weather was so lovely that morning and I had to snap a few photos of the blossom too.
We were so lucky with the weather, I felt as though we could have almost been in the south of France. I'm from an area of Newcastle called Jesmond which is a lovely leafy suburb about a 15 minute walk from the city centre. My brother and I headed to a pretty street near my mum's house where the council had removed the road surface to reveal the original cobblestones, I wish more cities would do that!
I really love wearing wide leg trousers and this linen pair will be perfect for the summer. I completed this super simple outfit with my new pair of Superga trainers that I have been wearing non-stop since the weather has been a little warmer, they go with everything!
Unbelievably it was much too warm to wear the lovely navy check scarf so I popped it in my bag along with my book, I always try to have a book with me! Like my plimsolls, this scarf has barely left my daily wardrobe but that's probably because I'm equally obsessed with checks and navy. I'm really looking forward to wearing simple outfits like this for the rest of the spring and summer. Leaving behind all the complex layers you have to wear during winter will feel very refreshing. Bring on the days where all I need to pop on is a sundress and a pair of sandals!
