SIMPLE CHRISTMAS CRAFTS - Brush lettered Wrapping
Now, I'm definitly not a great brush letterer but I've been wanting to try my hand at a craft like this for ages. I'm so glad I did as I may have discovered my new favourite way to wrap gifts. Thanks to my husband for being a fantastic model whilst I photographed this project too!
Brush Lettering Wrapping Paper
Show all your loved ones that you care with this pretty hand-lettered paper. You can design personalised messages to write onto the paper or opt for festive sayings like I did. Your gifts will look so beautiful under the tree and I promise it’s easier than it looks!
What you’ll need
- Craft paper
- Dulux paint of your choice - I used Mango Medley 3 mixed with Bongo Jazz 4 and DH Oxford Blue
- Paint brushes in various sizes
- Ribbon to decorate
Lay out each gift on the craft paper to measure out how much wrapping you’ll need. I suggest a different colour and phrase for each gift for a varied look.
Using a small to medium paint brush begin painting each phrase in a loose style. Look at modern calligraphy and brush lettering examples for ideas. I simply used my handwriting to make the process easier. If you think you have messy writing you may want to trace a font instead.
The main idea is to keep the text looking loose for a pretty and relaxed effect, it doesn’t matter if your lettering is a bit wonky.
Allow each sheet to dry and wrap up your gifts. Add a contrasting satin ribbon and a sprig of greenery for a simple way to dress up your gifts.
I hope you liked learning how to create your own easy brush lettered wrapping paper. I have one more festive DIY post coming up soon so keep an eye out!
