Creative Summer Workshops with Weekend:IN

I recently enjoyed a full day of creative workshops at my third WKND:in event. Weekend:IN create innovative ideas to help small and independent brands connect with bloggers and grow their audiences. They’re always great days out and I was so happy to be invited along to another one. This time we were at the beautiful Kreativ House down the road from me in Hackney.

Chocolate Making with Creighton's

The first workshop of the day was to learn the art of chocolate making from Creighton's Chocolaterie. Founded in 2011 by a mother/daughter partnership, Andrea Huntington and Lucy Elliott, Creighton's Chocolaterie focus on exciting flavours and jazzy packaging. We learnt to temper chocolate correctly and make our own beautiful chocolate slabs and lollipops. The smell was incredible and watching the professionals create the chocolate was very impressive. We used a selection of chocolates including some that were naturally coloured with raspberries and blueberries, we also topped our bars with pretty sprinkles and edible petals. I think you’ll agree that they look so pretty!

Lunch

We all sat down to enjoy a lunch of yummy salads that Olivia from WKND:In had organised for us. I could eat salads like this for lunch every day! I was a great opportunity for us bloggers to get to know each other better and also catch up with the few ladies I already knew. After lunch, we also enjoyed some delicious alcoholic ice lollies from Lapp

Embroidery with Meylor

Our second workshop of the day was run by Grace from Meylor Goods. I actually met Grace a few years ago and she very kindly helped with the design of my wedding invites, I blogged about our collaboration here if you’d like to read

grace taught us how to embroider a motif onto t-shirts, I’ve worn mine with pride quite a few times since the event, I love it! Embroidery is such a relaxing craft and we all zoned out a bit as we were sewing. Grace specialises in stationery but has recently branched out into candles, cushions and other homeware products. I love her minimal and loose floral illustrations.

Terrariums with Leafage

Our final workshop was run by Leafage who run incredibly cool terrarium workshops. Unlike your standard terrariums, Leafage use minimalist vessels with cork lids that look so stylish on a bookshelf. I felt like I was building a very trendy mini greenhouse. As someone who wasn’t the biggest fan of terrarium’s before I can say that I am a total convert now. I’m also happy to say that my little plant home is doing really well and thriving on our bar cart! Leafage run regular workshops so have a look at their website for more info. It’s also worth noting that the founder Kay is super lovely!

Thanks again to the ladies at WKND:In for organising such a wonderful event. I also want to mention the lovely Lufsum Lingerie and Commodity perfume who gave us all some of their products in the goodie bags. As always every brand who was part of the day produces absolutely gorgeous products and services.
