Jackson & Levine for Habitat 2018

I was lucky enough to be invited to the beautiful Italian street party that Habitat put on to celebrate the launch of the new Jackson & Levine collection . Hopefully, you caught some of it over on my Instagram stories  but if you didn't here are some photos from J&L themselves. Incredibly the collection sold out in three hours but it's so gorgeous I still had to blog about it. I know that Habitat are working hard with the factory in Italy to make another lot so keep an eye out for that.

I absolutely love this collection, it ticks so many of my design boxes. First of all the colours are gorgeous, pink, green and red - what a combo! There's also yellow and lilac if that's more your style. They just scream summer. Secondly, the whole collection is made by hand in a small ceramics studio in Italy which I think is pretty amazing, I'm so happy that Habitat wanted to support small batch production.

From Habitat - "Habitat has worked with a small workshop in the town of Grottaglie, owned by the Fasano family, for a number of years. With freehand artwork by Habitat's in-house designer, Martha Coates, and beautiful splatter patterns, each piece from the collection is individually handmade and glazed in traditional ways meaning you have your own unique piece"

The collection reminds me of a modern take on the Bloomsbury Group art style, it has a sense of freedom and is classical yet loose at the same time. I just love it! I'm so glad that each piece is slightly different and celebrates traditional craftsmanship. It's the perfect collection for a relaxed long lunch with friends this summer.

My favourite pieces from the collection are the figurative Francesca plate which features a classical, Romanesque design. The Serafina utensil pot with its bold contrasting colours has been dipped in glaze. I also love the hand splattered serving platter which would look stunning on the dinner table.

Fingers crossed that the collection will be available again soon. I feel so lucky that I managed to get one of the Francesca plates, although it's almost too nice to use! Have a look at the Habitat website here where they will be posting updates regarding the second batch.
