Exploring the Brecon Beacons
I think I've fallen a little bit in love with South Wales. Over the past 12 months I've been fortunate enough to have been gifted to many wonderful travelling opportunities because of my blog. I've visited many areas of the UK that I've wanted to see for years but nowhere made me feel as relaxed or at home as the Brecon Beacons.
A few weeks ago Simon and I headed off to stay at the beautiful Gliffaes hotel, more on that here. We were very kindly offered a rental car from Go Car Hire which meant that I could sit back whilst Simon did all the driving. I know I'll have to learn one day but for now I'm very happy being the navigator. In a few hours we arrived at the hotel to enjoy a truly relaxing stay in the countryside which you can read more about in the previous post. The next day we decided to hike the Crickhowell to Table Mountain walk to take in the views of the surrounding area.
You can see the clouds rolling in on the hill behind me. Most of the walk was uphill but the views were stunning despite the cloud cover. If you're planning a visit to Crickhowell I really recommend this walk, it's a perfect length for a slightly tiring Sunday stroll.
The village of Crickhowell was also lovely and after the walk we explored the village shops and popped into a fantastically old pub called The Bear for a lunch and a pint. Many of the buildings were painted in pale pastel colours, it's a shame it was such a cloudy day as the village must look so pretty in the sunshine. It's such a treat to stumble across a great village which can support so many independent pubs and shops. The Brecon Beacons feels like a area that could offer up a lot of beautiful castles, walks and villages.
Sadly before long it was time to pack the car and head back to London with our boots covered in mud. A very short but sweet stay, I would definitely love to go back and explore more of South Wales soon. Thanks so much to Go Car Hire for letting us use one of there cars for the trip, we definitely couldn't have gotten around without it.

The view from the top was amazing and it was so lovely to be out enjoying the country air again. Simon and I are lucky enough to be able to visit the Yorkshire Dales every year for a walking and pub holiday. Sadly living in London means that we need a countryside fix pretty often so I really relished the beautiful surroundings of the Brecon Beacons.
